They’re true to size and offer a medium fit. For those with wide feet, there’s also a ‘wide’ version available for purchase. The engineered mesh upper is plush and form-fitting, providing excellent comfort, and the lacing system is straightforward yet effective, ensuring a secure fit without any fancy gimmicks.

A padded collar, heel counter, and tongue enhance the overall coziness

A padded collar, heel counter, and tongue enhance the overall coziness. Plus, the heel loop makes them easy to slip on, and the reflective highlights are a nice touch for low-light runs as we head towards Fall running season.

Cushioning and stability

The heart of the Hurricane 24 lies in its midsole technology – at least this is what stands out most for me anyway. Utilizing a dual-layer system, Saucony combines PWRRUN and PWRRUN PB foam to create a cushioned yet incredibly stable platform.

The PWRRUN PB foam cradles your foot (that’s the top layer of white foam in the image below), offering superior comfort and energy return, while the PWRRUN foam underneath provides a solid frame to reduce lateral roll.

This combination ensures that your gait remains stable, mile after mile – and it actually does an amazing job of this right across the full length of the shoe whether you’re a forefoot striker, or a heel striker.

Running experience

Despite its bulkier appearance, which if I’m honest had me doubting its performance before I went and took them out for a proper run (I know I know, so judgy!! lol), the Saucony Hurricane 24 performs remarkably well on the run.

The Hurricane 24 are super stable considering they’re also highly cushioned running shoes, making them suitable for a wide range of runners, from lightweight to heavier individuals. This stability is particularly beneficial for those who tend to pronate, as it helps maintain proper running form and reduces the risk of injury.

I tested the shoe across different running styles—forefoot, midfoot, and heel striking—and found it to be consistently stable across the full length of the shoe. The wide platform at both the heel and forefoot contributes to this balanced feel, ensuring support across various running gaits.

Traction and durability

The outsole features a sticky rubber compound that provides excellent traction, particularly around corners.

However, there are sections where the midsole foam extends to the outsole

However, there are sections where the midsole foam extends to the outsole (denoted in my photo above by the grey areas of the outsole). While this design choice saves weight, it compromises durability and traction in those areas.

Breathability

One area where the Hurricane 24 could improve is breathability. The upper, though comfortable, isn’t the most breathable, which can make your feet heat up during hot runs.

However, this does make the shoe suitable for year-round use, keeping your feet warm during cooler seasons – just be aware that if if you live in an extremely hot climate, these may not be the best for you.
