Sizing and fit
The Salomon Aero Glide 3 runs true to size with a medium to wide fit, so if you have narrow feet you’ll likely feel like these are too wide for you, unfortunately.
The seamless, inside-out construction really contributes to a roomy, breathable feel, and the wide toe box is a bonus for anyone who values extra space up front.

What’s good
The Aero Glide 3 has a surprisingly lightweight build, I say ‘surprisingly’ because it has such a high stack height, and soft cushioning to back it up with.
Weighing in at just 8.9 oz for a size US(M)9 (my pair), they maintain an agile feel on the road, even with their high stack height.
The Energy Foam Evo midsole makes a big difference in how responsive the ride is too, each step feels energetic, and the cushioning is well-balanced, providing both a soft landing and very smooth transitions from heel or midfoot landing through to toe take off.
I appreciated how the midsole adapts to different speeds, keeping the run comfortable whether I’m on a short recovery run, a slower paced long run, or picking up the pace a little hitting my tempo speeds.

The innovative upper design deserves a mention too because the seamless, inside-out construction not only offers a modern aesthetic but also delivers a smooth, breathable fit that’s hard to beat in terms of comfort.
One of the first things I noticed was how wonderfully oversized the tongue is! Tongues more often come up short on running shoes but this one goes the other way! It’s a little odd but actually incredibly comfortable and makes sliding the shoes on very easy!
And considering its size, it stays in place during runs too, thanks to the way it is connected to the rest of the upper.
The wide toe box gives your feet plenty of room, which is great for those who tend to experience any discomfort from tighter-fitting shoes. Note, however, that while this spacious fit works well for me, it might be a touch too roomy if your feet are on the narrower side.
I also enjoyed the stability provided by the broad platform. It supports quick transitions and makes for a secure toe-off, even at faster paces, however, tight corners can feel a little uneasy due to the high stack height and lack of ridged support geometry within the midsole.
How it could be improved
Despite the many positives, there are a few areas that could use some tweaking. One area for improvement is the outsole’s performance on wet surfaces, particularly painted lines on road, or slick cobbled streets. The Road Contagrip outsole does grip very well on dry surfaces, however.
Additionally, the mid/forefoot area can sometimes feel a little lumbering when making tight turns. While the overall ride is smooth, this slight awkwardness during dynamic movements could be a minor drawback for those who have to dodge lots of people when running in the city for example.
My verdict
Overall, the Aero Glide 3 is a solid everyday trainer that brings plenty to the table for runners who want a comfortable, responsive shoe for regular training runs.
I’ve been impressed by its lightweight build, the dynamic feel of the Energy Foam Evo midsole, and the innovative, breathable upper that provides a roomy fit.
While it could use some improvements, particularly in wet conditions and in fine-tuning the fit for tighter feet, it still offers a well-rounded package that meets the needs of many runners.
So, if you’re after for a shoe that delivers high cushioning with a responsive ride for your 2-3 runs per week, the Aero Glide 3 is definitely worth considering.
