The LARQ PureVis 2 Bottle is yet another step forward in hydration technology, something the LARQ seems to do with every one of their products that comes through our door. Designed for the modern, eco-conscious individual, this water bottle combines purification & filtration, a sleek design, and sustainability. In this LARQ PureVis 2 Bottle Review, I’ll explain what makes this bottle stand out from all the other bottle brands out there.

From the moment you unbox the LARQ PureVis 2, its sleek and minimalist design is the first thing that stands out because there’s really nothing else out there that features this tech and looks as good. It comes in four colors: Granite White, Obsidian Black, Eucalyptus Green (this is the one I have in the 23oz size), and Mojave Dune, making it a stylish choice for any setting or personality ;). As with all the other LARQ products I have reviewed, the bottle feels well-made and the double-wall vacuum insulation keeps your water cold for up to 24 hours.

The PureVis 2 Bottle is now available for pre-order at a special discounted price of $109 at livelarq.com, down from the regular $119.

5 features that I really like

1. PureVis UV-C Purification Technology

The star of the show is the PureVis™ UV-C technology, which eliminates up to 99.9999% of bio-contaminants like E.coli and Salmonella at the touch of a button. This ensures that your water is safe to drink, whether you’re filling up from a tap or a natural source.

It’s the technology that made LARQ famous, when they released their first product, the LARQ PureVis Bottle.

2. Self-Cleaning Function

Self-cleaning mode is a really cool feature too. I activates every two hours to purify both the water and the inner surfaces of the bottle. This keeps the bottle odor-free and ensures that your water tastes fresh all day long.

Initially I found this annoying at night as the purification light comes on during a cleaning cycle – and sometimes it would wake me up. So, I thought, maybe it’s possible to turn this auto self-clean feature off during sleep or privacy hours, and lo and behold that feature was right there in the App! So needless to say, I have now turned it off from 10pm to 7am – and no I don’t get 9 hours sleep – I have a 1 year old baby boy called Sebastian, haha!

3. Advanced Filtration

The bottle also includes Nano Zero filter technology, which removes harmful contaminants like PFAS and chlorine. Each filter can purify up to 40 gallons (151 liters) of water, replacing the need for 300 single-use plastic bottles.

A filter like this is important if you’re filling up from a natural source that potentially contains sediments bugs, or any ‘bits’ you wouldn’t want to drink!

4. Smart Hydration Tracking

Coming soon to the LARQ App, which will allow you to track your hydration, set goals, and monitor your water intake directly from your smartphone. This feature is perfect for those who want to maintain optimal hydration levels throughout the day. I personally aim for at least a 1.5 liters of water a day.

5. Sustainable and Eco-Friendly

LARQ is committed to sustainability, offering carbon-neutral shipping and 99% recyclable packaging. Each purchase also supports clean water initiatives in Kenya and efforts to clean up ocean-bound plastic waste.

Other features and how it performs in general

Other features include USB-C charging, which is awesome to see, as the other bottles up until now have been using the micro USB which isn’t as fast to charge and a little annoying as it only connects to the charge cable one way, there’s no wrong way with USB-C – plus everything now uses it so there’s always a cable lying around! The carry handle is also detachable should you wish to do so.

Then there’s the Swig Top which is my favorite way to drink water out of a bottle as it flows freely and quickly. If you are using the filter that comes with this bottle, then please note that this ‘swig top’ is more of a ‘suck top’ lol. This is because for the water to pass through the filter, you must suck the water through it.

If you’re filling up your bottle from a faucet in you home or office building then you likely won’t need to use the filter, in which case you’ll get the benefits of the swig top and UV-C purification. If that water tastes nasty, then use the filter too; I also recommend using the filter and UV-C light in combination when traveling too – just in case!

The double-wall vacuum insulation keeps water cold for up to 24 hours, making it ideal for long hikes, gym sessions, or a day at the office, and the UV-C purification works seamlessly, providing peace of mind that your water is free from harmful bacteria whenever you take a swig (or suck).

Using the LARQ PureVis 2 is straightforward, and charging is simple with the included USB-C cable, and the bottle’s intuitive design makes it easy to switch between ‘normal mode’ and ‘adventure mode’ for more intense purification needs (double tap the top button for a longer purification cycle).

Understanding UV-C Sterilization vs. Filtration

UV-C Sterilization: UV-C ultraviolet light operates at a wavelength of 100-280 nanometers (nm), a range that doesn’t penetrate Earth’s atmosphere. This wavelength has germicidal properties, meaning harmful microorganisms like viruses and bacteria, which have no natural exposure to UV-C light, are highly susceptible to it. When exposed to UV-C light, the vital cellular functions of these microorganisms are disrupted, including the replication of RNA and DNA. This disruption effectively destroys or inactivates bacterial and viral pathogens such as influenza, E. coli, rhinovirus, and SARS-CoV-2. However, UV-C sterilization does not remove physical contaminants like sediment or dirt – which is where the filter system comes in play.

Filtration: Filtration, on the other hand, physically removes contaminants from water. The Nano Zero filter technology used in the LARQ PureVis 2 eliminates substances like PFAS, chlorine, and other harmful chemicals. It also removes larger particles and sediments that could affect the taste and cleanliness of the water. The filter is what will make the water taste better too.

By combining both UV-C sterilization and filtration, the LARQ PureVis 2 ensures that your water is not only free from harmful microorganisms but also clean and great-tasting.

Combining UV-C Sterilization, Carbon Filter Technology, and Swig Top

The LARQ PureVis 2 Bottle seamlessly integrates UV sterilization, carbon filter technology, and a swig top lid, three of LARQ’s top products into one versatile bottle, eliminating the need to swap different lids for various functions.

Perfect for Travelers: For those who travel to destinations where water quality is extremely questionable, this combination is critical. The UV sterilization ensures that the water is free from harmful bacteria and viruses, while the carbon filter removes any sediment, dirt, and chemical contaminants. The swig top adds convenience, making it easy to drink on the go without having to change/remove the lid in its entirety.

This all-in-one design makes the LARQ PureVis 2 the perfect travel companion, providing peace of mind that your water is safe and clean, no matter where you are – I feel like this is the product that LARQ has really been working towards all these years, and folks… it’s finally here!

It is worth buying?

With an MSRP of $119 for the 23oz (680ml) size and $129 for the 34oz (1L) size, the LARQ PureVis 2 is an investment in your health and the environment (think of all the plastic bottles you won’t have to use, and all those microplastics you won’t be ingesting).

Given its advanced features, high build quality, and the added benefits of sustainability, it offers great value for money – and it’s a bottle I’ll be keeping by my side for a long time. For more information and to place your pre-order now, visit LARQ’s website.
