If you spend a lot of time on the water—whether that’s lakeside, poolside, or floating off a paddleboard—this chair might be your new favorite bit of kit.

The BOTE Hangout Sling Chair is an inflatable floating chair that’s compact, easy to set up, and packed with thoughtful design touches. I’ve been testing it out for a few weeks now, and it really does make relaxing on the water as simple as inflate, sit back, and sip.

Performance review

Setup takes just a few minutes with the included pump—quick inflation and deflation makes it stress-free to pack and unpack, which really matters when all you want to do it get this thing sit-ready.

Chilling in my BOTE Hangout Sling Chair
Chilling in my BOTE Hangout Sling Chair

I use mine in the pool, so just leave it inflated now.

The build quality feels solid, which is something I’ve come to expect from BOTE gear (I’ve reviewed a couple of their stand up paddleboard in the past).

The seams are clean, the materials are thick and durable, and the shape stays supportive even after days in the sun.

I can confirm it stays stable and well-balanced, even when the water gets a little choppy because we are playing around in the pool with our son.

One of the coolest features for me is the MAGNEPOD™ magnetic drink holder – just watch my video below to see how strong the magnet is.

It’s one of those things that sounds like a gimmick until you try it—your drink just stays put, even when small waves roll in.

you can also add BOTE’s magnetic speaker, which I think would be fun, having tunes floating with me (with very little risk of it falling into the water) – I imagine it takes the whole setup to another level.

Comfort-wise, it hits the sweet spot. The reclined backrest supports your body without forcing you to fully lie down, and the seat keeps you above water just enough to stay cool but not soaked.

It’s very much a “lounge and chill” chair, and I never feel like I’m fighting for stability or sinking awkwardly – thanks to the well-balanced buoyancy it provides.

It also plays well with the rest of the BOTE Hangout system which I sadly don’t own.

I do however have the BOTE Inflatable Cornhole bag toss, which is awesome and part of BOTE’s AeroLounge system – which is all of BOTE’s inflatable outdoor furniture, well worth a look at!

The included carry sling bag is also worth mentioning. Everything fits inside—chair, pump, and repair kit—so nothing gets left behind.

And because it packs down fairly small, it doesn’t become that “one extra piece of gear” that feels like a burden to take with you on trips.

As for long-term performance, while I haven’t owned this one for years (yet), my previous BOTE gear has held up extremely well.

No leaks, no tears, and minimal wear even after regular use, so I’m confident this sling chair is built to last.

My verdict

If you’re looking for a floating chair that balances comfort, portability, and smart features, the BOTE Hangout Sling Chair delivers.

It’s super easy to travel with, it performs well in a variety of water conditions, and the magnet setup is genuinely useful—not a gimmick.

I’d recommend it to anyone who spends time around water and wants something more enjoyable and supportive than a basic float.

It’s not cheap, but the quality, experience, and versatility you get out of it definitely justify the price—especially if you already use other BOTE gear.
