  • Price: $160 at Saucony (US) / £170 at Sportsshoes (UK)
  • Weight: 10.5 oz (up from 9.7 oz in the Triumph 21)
  • Heel-to-toe drop: 10 mm – stack height of 37mm at the heel and 27mm at the toe

Fit and feel

The Triumph 22 stays true to size, but offers a bit more room compared to the previous version. This extra space is designed to enhance comfort without the need to size up. For those with wider feet, there’s a wide version available too, if you need it.

The shoe has a 10 mm drop, but interestingly, it feels slightly higher than that, and at 10.5 oz, it is a bit heavier than the Triumph 21, but this added weight comes with benefits, thanks to the enhanced midsole cushioning.

The biggest selling point for the Triumph 22 is its plush cushioning, and it’s the PWRRUN PB foam in the midsole that provides this soft, responsive ride, making it ideal for easy miles.

The upper is nicely cushioned too, especially around the collar and heel counter, giving you that cloud-like feel around your feet, that you may have gotten used to if you’ve run in the Triumph range before.

The supportive upper and stable platform make the Triumph 22 suitable for runners with slight pronation issues too because it does a great job of correcting misalignment.

The shoe’s wide forefoot and heel design help keep your foot stable, reducing the risk of rolling and providing a secure fit throughout your run, which is needed because they do have a high stack midsole.

While the Triumph 22 excels as a daily trainer, it also doubles as a great lifestyle shoe. Its comfort and support make it perfect for anyone who spends a lot of time on their feet, whether at work or just walking around town.

The rubber outsole is strategically placed to ensure durability and grip where it’s needed most. This thoughtful design not only prolongs the life of the shoe but also keeps the weight down, by avoiding a full rubber outsole, which can be heavy.

On the run, the Triumph 22 still has a plush, cushioned ride that absorbs impact well, making it a good choice for older runners or anyone concerned about too much impact on their joints. Despite its cushioned feel, the PWRRUN PB foam adds a level of responsiveness that makes you want to push the pace on good days too. That’s a nice motivating feeling to have with you while you run.

However, the 10mm drop from heel to toe might feel a bit high for some runners, especially on longer runs – I know it does for me. It can put additional strain on the knees, so if you’re planning to run more than 10 km regularly, you might want to consider a shoe with a lower drop.

Here are some great alternative daily trainers to look at, keep an eye out for shoes with a drop within the range of 0mm to 6mm if you do plan to run longer distances.

Are the Saucony Triumph 22 Worth Buying?

At $160, the Saucony Triumph 22 is priced in the mid-range for running shoes. Considering the comfort, support, and versatility it offers, it’s a solid investment for runners looking for a reliable daily trainer and those who know and love the Triumph will be happy with the latest updates.

I like that it can also double as a walking or work shoe due to its plush cushioning and stability for all day use, however, I do believe there are better alternatives out there, which you can learn about in my Best Daily Training Running Shoes roundup.
