About Noise and the Luna Ring
Noise has positioned the Luna Ring as a comprehensive wellness companion, that will track your sleep and heart rate; but what makes the Luna platform different to some other competitors right now is its free access to its AI coach.
This means you get personalized workout, nutrition, and wellness recommendations without any hidden upsells.
It’s designed to be that all-in-one device that blends seamlessly into your lifestyle, whether you’re running errands, working, or want to track the odd run.
Why choose a smart ring?
For those who prefer subtle health tracking in their day to day, the Noise Luna Ring comes with a number of appealing benefits.
Its compact design makes it incredibly lightweight and unobtrusive, so you hardly notice it on your finger, even at night, although the sensor lights can occasionally distract you if you have your hand by your face whilst dropping off to sleep.
The ring’s sleek, minimalist aesthetic allows you to monitor your health without drawing any unnecessary attention or disrupting your personal style with distracting notification alerts.
In addition, you get full access to detailed insights and lifetime AI coaching without having to worry about any recurring subscription fees.
Smart rings are also designed for 24/7 comfort, ensuring that it feels natural on your finger during daily activities as it does when you’re tracking your sleep at night.
Sizing and fit
You will receive a sizing kit before they send out your ring so that you don’t end up with a ring that doesn’t fit. However, the size I chose was actually tighter on the actual ring that arrived.
Meaning you may want to consider sizing up, depending on the size of your knuckles, otherwise you’ll likely have to wet your finger to slip it on and off, like I have to.
I believe this fit issue is down to the fact that there are more internal protrusions than on the Ultrahuman Ring Air which fits more accurately – you can see this in my comparison photo below.
Day-to-day wear and experience
The ring is comfortable enough to wear all day and through the night while sleeping. Its 8mm slim profile worked well on my wedding finger.
I like that the Luna Ring has an extrusion detail on the outside which makes it fast and easy to determine whether or not the ring is aligned correctly, with the extrusion on the top and the sensors on the inside edge of your finger.
The exterior coating can show a few very minor scratches, but it’s hard to see, and these don’t affect its performance at all – overall I have been impressed with the exterior durability.
Charging is a bit of an art, the wireless dock requires a precise alignment, and while it can be finicky at times, it’s something you get used to.
I hear a new and improved charger with a built-in battery pack is in the works, which will be awesome.
A full charge in about 90 to 120 minutes means I’m rarely left without data for long.
Tracking health data
The Noise Luna Ring gives you a pretty detailed look at your overall wellness:
- Sleep Tracking: It breaks your sleep into REM, deep, light, and awake stages. I found the total sleep time readings to pretty accurate, even if there were slight differences in “time in bed” versus actual sleep. It also tracks night-time movements and sleep latency, data that helps me understand what might be impacting my rest – like my annoying cat Champers who likes to jump on my head, for example.
- Activity & Heart Rate: With continuous heart rate monitoring and categorization of daily movements, it offers insights into your effort levels throughout the day. While I noticed that activity tracking can sometimes be a bit inconsistent during very dynamic workouts, the overall trends are helpful.
- Additional Metrics: It also measures skin temperature and blood oxygenation, rounding out its holistic approach to health. For women, the advanced fertility and period prediction features are a notable bonus.
App & AI integration
The Luna app is well organized, with clear sections for Home, Sleep, Readiness, and Activity.
I find it easy to navigate, and the insights feel genuinely useful. The free, lifetime access to Luna AI is nice because it offers personalized guidance that helps you tweak your routines, be it in workouts or recovery.
I also appreciate the “Find My Ring” feature, just incase I forget where my finger is – haha.
That said, although though its ok, the App / software is where the Luna smart ring system needs work.
It just feels to me like there’s a lot more development to go in order to make the syncing, connectivity, and AI side of things faser, more stable, and more usable on the whole.
All this, I’m sure, will eventually come but when there are competitors out there that already have better software, I feel like this needs to happen fast for Noise.
Battery life & charging
In real-world use, the battery life has been reliable, lasting roughly four to five days on a single charge.
The charging process, while occasionally requiring a bit of precision on the dock, isn’t a dealbreaker given the convenience of not having to charge every day.
I recommend you make sure you charge it before it runs out completely as it can sometimes take a while to wake up on the charger otherwise..
Additional features & partnerships
The Noise Luna Ring is water-resistant up to 50m, which means I obviously don’t have to worry about taking it off during everyday activities like washing hands or having a shower.
Also, Noise’s partnership with Philips Biosensing ensures an impressive accuracy rate (around 98.2%), and compliance with GDPR and HIPAA means my personal data stays secure.
Noise Luna Ring VS Ultrahuman Ring Air
Since some of you have also read my Ultrahuman Ring Air review, here’s a quick rundown of how the two smart rings compare:
Design & build
The Noise Luna Ring features titanium with a sleek 8mm profile and a diamond-like PVD coating that resists scratches, offering a refined, durable look.
The Ultrahuman Ring Air, while similarly lightweight and made for round-the-clock wear is of equally high build quality.
I like that the Luna Ring has an extrusion detail on the outside which makes it fast and easy to determine whether or not the ring is aligned correctly, with the extrusion on the top and the sensors on the inside edge of your finger.
The Ultrahuman ring Air does not have an exterior orientation indicator.
Sensors & tracking
Both rings seem to do a very good job tracking health metrics making it hard to pick a winner here.
App user experience
Both rings offer a free service with no subscriptions – which I love! Noise’s app does have AI coaching for personalized wellness advice, which adds some extra value BUT the Ultrahuman app is more intuitive, more stable, and certainly more polished overall.
Battery life & durability
Both rings deliver about 4–5 days of battery life and are built for everyday use but the charging experience is better on the Ultrahuman Ring Air, as it doesn’t need to have a specific alignment to begin charging.
Both rings are extremely durable.
Pricing & overall value
At $300 (or $270 with code TRAILKALE10), the Luna Ring is less expensive and offers great tracking and free AI coaching, making it a compelling all-in-one solution.
The Ultrahuman Ring Air is priced a bit higher, catering more to those focused specifically on sleep and recovery metrics.
My verdict
At $300, $270 with my exclusive code TRAILKALE10 from lunazone.com, the Noise Luna Ring offers a comprehensive and subtle approach to health tracking at a relatively affordable price.
Its extensive metric tracking, combined with lifetime AI coaching through the Luna app, makes it a great option for anyone looking to integrate wellness insights into their daily routine.
While it may have a few minor drawbacks, like occasional charging alignment issues or a platform that needs further software development to iron out stability issues, the overall experience is solid.
