The Chirp Contour Decompression Table is a convenient, at-home spinal decompression, massage therapy, and heat therapy solution to addressing persistent back and neck discomfort.
I’ve tested numerous at-home massage and recovery devices (and many from the Chirp brand) here at Trail & Kale, so I was keen to explore how the Contour stacks up in real-world usage.
This Chirp Contour review covers its key features, in-depth performance, pros, cons, and practical feedback based on thorough testing and real-world user experience.

Performance and user experience
The Chirp Contour is remarkably effective at providing gentle yet noticeable spinal decompression, at least once it has calibrated to you – it starts off a little heavy handed if you’re not used to deep tissue massages.
I always walk away from the Contour table feeling genuine relief and reduced pressure in my spine after regular sessions.
Unlike traditional inversion tables, the Contour provides traction while keeping you flat, avoiding dizziness or discomfort from being upside-down.
Massage intensity is customizable thanks to three distinct rollers:
- Soft rollers are excellent for sensitive backs or relaxation.
- Medium (Contour) rollers strike a great balance, suitable for everyday use – the one it comes loaded with.
- Deep Tissue rollers deliver intense pressure, ideal for working out stubborn muscle knots—but they can feel overwhelming if you’re not accustomed to deep tissue massages.
The extra rollers are stored in the compartment under the seat (see below). For anyone wondering, I stick with the contour roller when using the Contour!
Heat therapy complements the massage and decompression wonderfully, providing muscle relaxation that helps maximize the therapeutic benefits.
The standard warmth level is soothing and sufficient for me, but if you want to turn it up more, there are two levels of heat that you can select via the controller.
The table itself is comfortable and ergonomically designed, accommodating a wide height range (5’0″–6’5″) and supporting users up to 250 lbs.
Stability and durability are excellent, with no wobbling but there is a little bit of creaking, depending on your weight (although it’s super minimal, I wondered at one point whether it was my back making the noise lol), enhancing overall relaxation during use.
Noise levels from the motor are minimal—a soft hum that is just tuned out as you relax into your massage.
One notable drawback is the remote control. While it is responsive and works well in most conditions, its buttons aren’t backlit.
This can make operation challenging in low lighting, which slightly disrupts the relaxing experience during evening sessions. I guess with time knowing which buttons do what will become more ‘second nature’.
There’s even a little pocket for storing the remote, while not in use:
Setup and usage is all very user-friendly – Initial setup takes less than 5 minutes, and automatic height calibration simplifies sessions.
The intuitive preset modes (Warm Up, Recovery, Relax) allow quick, effective therapy without manual tweaking, making it accessible even for those who don’t really know what they need, or want from each session.
My favorite modes are Warm Up (in the mornings), and Relax (in the evenings before bed)
Pros:
- Effective and gentle spinal decompression without inversion-related discomfort.
- Comprehensive three-in-one therapy.
- Customizable massage intensity with interchangeable rollers.
- Ergonomic and comfortable design suitable for a wide range of users.
- Quiet and stable during operation.
- Easy to use preset programs simplify the experience.
- Solid, durable construction ensuring long-term use.
Cons:
- Premium price tag around $650 might deter some users.
- Bulky and somewhat heavy—could be challenging to store.
- Remote control buttons are not backlit, difficult to use in low-light conditions.
- Deep Tissue rollers can be overly intense for beginners.
Final thoughts
The Chirp Contour Decompression Table is an effective home therapy device, genuinely helping to reduce back pain, muscle tightness, and spinal pressure.
Its versatility and ease of use make it suitable for daily wellness routines. While there are minor areas for improvement—especially regarding the remote control’s usability in low light—the overall therapeutic benefits significantly outweigh these minor drawbacks and I’m loving using mine every day.
Given its build quality, effectiveness, and ease of daily integration, the Chirp Contour is a valuable addition to any at-home wellness setup, offering professional-quality decompression and massage therapy from the comfort of home.
