Tread Labs, best known for its clinical-grade insoles trusted by nurses, runners, and people who live on their feet, is officially stepping into shoes, trail shoes, to be exact.

Launching today, the new Dover Collection marks Tread Labs’ first foray into footwear, and they’ve done it their way; by starting with the inside first.

Every pair is built around the brand’s APMA-accepted Pace Insole, a firm, biomechanically designed insert that’s long been the backbone of their business. We reviewed the Pace and Dash insoles back in 2021.

In a market where most shoes treat support as an afterthought, Tread Labs flips the script, these trail shoes are support-first by design.

What’s in the Dover collection?

Two trail shoes, each solving a different use case, both built with long-haul durability and Tread Labs’ signature support:

  • Dover ($180): Designed for rugged adventures, this model features a suede and mesh upper with molded polyurethane overlays for structure. The outsole? A Vibram® EcoStep unit ready for everything from dusty switchbacks to rocky scrambles.
  • Dover RS ($155): A sleeker, lighter option but still weighing in at 13.7oz (388g) it’s tuned for faster movement and breathability. With a ripstop upper and mesh lining, the RS is made for more responsive movement on dry or flowing trails, without giving up the support hikers need.

I have been testing out the Dover RS, so you can expect a review on Trail & Kale, very soon!

What makes them different?

Pace Insole (included): Every Dover and Dover RS ships with a Medium arch Pace Insole, the same one trusted by professionals who spend 10+ hours on their feet.

It’s firm, supportive, and modular, meaning the top cover is replaceable, extending the life of the insole (and the shoe).

True trail-ready construction: Thoughtfully ventilated uppers and Vibram outsoles deliver traction and breathability across terrain types.

Built to last: Like all Tread Labs products, the Dover collection is designed for longevity, not landfill.

From the founder of Chaco

If the name Mark Paigen rings a bell, it’s because he also founded Chaco, the sandal brand that built a cult following among outdoor guides, hikers, and festival-goers.

With Tread Labs, Paigen has shifted focus toward foot health, bringing the same obsession with function and fit to a whole new category.

Available now

The Tread Labs Dover Collection is available exclusively at treadlabs.com starting today.

Whether you’re after rugged durability or lightweight agility on your hikes, both models come ready to hit the trail, and support you every step of the way.
