For mountaineers scaling frozen couloirs, guides navigating relentless storms, or anyone pushing deep into the backcountry this winter, there’s now a new reason to trust your gear with your life: the next-generation GORE-TEX® Pro fabric.

Launching Fall/Winter 2025, the new GORE-TEX Pro fabric introduces ePE membrane technology, a lighter, thinner, PFAS-free*, with a reduced carbon footprint**, waterproof-breathable platform that doesn’t compromise on protection.

Built for the harshest alpine environments and the most rugged pursuits, it’s the most advanced performance fabric W.L. Gore & Associates has ever released, and it’s backed by the GUARANTEED TO KEEP YOU DRY promise.

What’s new with GORE-TEX Pro?

This isn’t a small update, it’s a full reimagining of one of the outdoor world’s most trusted fabric technologies:

  • ePE Membrane: A next-gen expanded polyethylene membrane engineered to be strong, light, and durable. It’s free of intentionally added per- and polyfluorinated substances (PFAS), marking a major sustainability milestone.
  • Lower carbon footprint: Thanks to a combination of ePE, recycled and solution-dyed textiles, and reduced mass laminates, the next-gen Pro lineup has been shown to reduce environmental impact by up to 39%, according to Higg MSI metrics.
  • Three-layer construction: A PFAS-free* DWR-treated outer fabric, an ultra-rugged ePE membrane, and a MICRO-GRID® backer that slides easily over base layers for all-day comfort and efficient layering.

Rugged tested, expedition ready

The new Pro lineup has undergone Gore’s most extreme internal testing yet.

In one simulation, mannequins in a rain chamber withstood 22 inches of water per hour from every angle, while in field conditions, elite athletes and brand partners put the garments through multi-day backcountry trips, waterfall climbs, and mountain storms.

All models passed with flying colors.

The garments built with this fabric exceeded all expectations for comfort, resilience, and waterproofing, especially on trips with rough pack straps, wet brush, and technical movement

No compromise protection in a cleaner package

This next-gen evolution represents the strongest statement yet in Gore’s Responsible Performance initiative.

While keeping pace with the needs of elite athletes, it removes intentionally added PFAS from the membrane and finishes, without cutting corners on waterproof or windproof performance.

So whether you find yourself exposed to horizontal sleet or scrambling across shale, the new GORE-TEX Pro will keep water out, block all wind, and allow sweat vapor to breath out; so you stay warm, dry, and focused on the objective.

Look for it this winter

Garments featuring next-gen GORE-TEX Pro with ePE technology will debut this fall/winter from select outdoor brands and technical apparel makers.

Expect to see it in alpine shells, ski jackets, expedition suits, and mountaineering gear built for those who demand the absolute best from their kit.

After nearly a decade of development, this new membrane platform reinforces why GORE-TEX Pro remains the gold standard for harsh-condition protection, now with a future-focused edge.
