La Sportiva just launched its all-new Lumina Down Jacket Series, expanding its Alpine Tech line with three premium insulated jackets built to handle everything from brisk summit pushes to extreme alpine expeditions.
Engineered with 1000-fill power white down and protected by PERTEX® Quantum with Diamond Fuse shell technology, these jackets combine elite-level warmth with an ultralight design that’s built for movement in cold, high-consequence environments.
And yes, they’re every bit as light as they claim.
La Sportiva says the Lumina Series was created for serious mountain athletes who need insulation they can actually rely on, without hauling extra grams.
That means refined technical details like strategically zoned down chambers, elastic hems, adjustable hoods, and packable designs that don’t skimp on warmth when it matters most.
I’ve got the Lumina 200 in for testing right now, so stay tuned for a full hands-on review on Trail & Kale very soon.
Lumina Down Series: Jacket options and specs
The Lumina collection includes three down jackets, each dialed in for a specific type of mission:
Lumina 100
5.9 oz | $289 at lasportivausa.com
The lightest jacket in the range, with 70g of insulation. Designed for fast-and-light alpine objectives where every gram counts.
Lumina 200
8.8 oz | $379 at lasportivausa.com
Features 125g of down insulation plus an elastic hood. A well-balanced choice for longer stints in cold, exposed conditions. This is the one I have in for testing.
Lumina 300
12.3 oz | $439 at lasportivausa.com
Built with 175g of down and an adjustable hem, this one’s made for serious expeditions and winter backcountry touring.
What makes these jackets stand out from other down jackets?
The headline spec here is the 1000-fill pure white down, some of the most premium insulation available.
Combined with PERTEX® Quantum Diamond Fuse shell fabric, these jackets are engineered for exceptional warmth-to-weight performance, durability over time, and compact packability.
Diamond Fuse is a particularly interesting tech story; it weaves yarns in a way that resists abrasion and fiber migration, meaning the jackets should hold their loft and performance even with regular use.
The jackets are also body-mapped for thermal efficiency, and designed to move with you, not against you, a nice touch for ski mountaineering, ridge travel, or long approaches with big elevation swings.
More updates to La Sportiva’s Alpine Tech collection
Alongside the Lumina launch, La Sportiva is also expanding its outerwear lineup for Fall/Winter 2025 with new GORE-TEX® Performance shells:
- Alpine Guide GTX Jacket ($499) and Pants ($399)
Designed for ski mountaineering and alpine objectives, this shell system offers 28,000mm waterproofing, breathability, a helmet-compatible hood, snow skirt, and underarm vents. - Sender GTX Jacket ($549) and Bib Pants ($449)
A freeride-focused combo for deep powder days, with articulated fit, ventilation, and weatherproof tech for storm riding and backcountry drops.
